Hospital Security
Hospital security is one industry that poses particularly unique challenges that security professionals may not encounter in other industries. We take pride in being able to provide protection for healthcare centers. Our small contribution as a security element helps saves lives each day. Because of this, we take additional precautions in our hiring process. Likewise, our precautions for the level of performance for our security personnel at sites.
The PMV Approach
PMV Security strives to ensure a highly visible and multi-layered presence at each location we serve clients.
First Factor
The first factor we look at is the candidates we select when hiring. If they don’t match our standards we move on as from our experience no matter the quality of training or managers, if they don’t fit the job the problems will show up in the future.
Second Factor
The next factor is our training standards. We implement a strict basic training for all the guards and from there their advanced specialized training. This is where our security personnel work on industry standard requirements. They will be trained in all aspects of that industry from security protocols, procedures, equipment operations and safety operations.
All security guards assigned to healthcare facilities must successfully complete the following training courses:
- Introduction to medical security operations
- CCTV monitoring techniques
- Health & safety protocols
- Medical equipment
- Basic first aid & emergency response
- Emergency quarantine procedures
The last portion covers site specific training which provides the most up to date protocols and requirements by the client.
Third Factor
The term ‘Mystery Customer’ refers to a type of quality auditor we deploy to hospitals & medical centers that our security guards assigned to. These ‘Mystery Customers’ will pretend to be a normal customer tasked with covertly monitoring security guards behavior.
They will rate the following performance:
- Proper attention to their duties (Are they in their assigned checkpoints, awareness of customers)
- Communication to customers, employees in the medical center and to other security guards(if any others).
- Appearance of uniform and hygiene
- Adherence to client security protocols & medical procedures
Fourth Factor
Our main focus when operating in medical environments is safety & security. To ensure we have the upmost adherence to protocols we only put seasoned and experienced site managers at our hospital sites. Even if we hire an individual that has experience working at hospitals with another organization they have to meet and successfully pass the probationary monitoring period. This ensures we have the most experienced leadership on-ground so the best possible decisions can be made without hesitancy.
International Association for Healthcare for Security & Safety
Violent Patient / Patient Visitor Management
We want to provide the best hospital security possible to our clients. To ensure we are successful our research & development team are utilizing international standards to implement proven standards such as the International Association for Healthcare for Security & Safety (IAHSS). We train and operate utilizing Violent Patient / Patient Visitor Management . This policy clearly defines key indicators for levels of violent behavior.
Security Role for Patient Management
This policy highlights the security staff’s role throughout the patient management from accessing the hospital property to final discharge of the patient. This details the actions security personnel should take during different stages of patient care including when to intervene during security threats.
Risk Assessments
The next standard is risk assessments. We implement security risk assessments on a regular basis. This allows PMV Security to prioritize assets at each site, identify threats and vulnerabilities. Once we have highlighted any vulnerabilities, we will apply measures to mitigate that risk in order to provide adequate protection. likewise
Violence in Healthcare Prevention Program (VHPP)
VHPP highlights the prevention strategy & disciplinary process for violence occurring in healthcare facilities. Individuals should report any threatening behavior. This provides a detailed historical account of actions by individuals in the event the behavior persists or continues to increase in severity over time. in conclusion
Targeted Violence
Targeted violence is a situation where an individual, or a group are at risk for violence. The most common types of individuals are typically spousal domestic victims. Targeted individuals however are not limited to just spouses as there are many reasons (race, ethnicity, gender, appearance etc.) attackers may target an individual. This highlights the standard response that should be implemented in all cases of targeted violence in healthcare facilities. however
Active Shooter
An active shooter is a violent event that can involve more than 1 individual who stage an attack on the innocent public for the purpose of killing large amounts of people with firearm weapons. This Active Shooter policy highlights actions that should be taken during an active shooter incident within a healthcare facility. Although active shooters are relatively rare in the APAC region they still can occur and it would only take one incident to devastate a hospital to change the public’s opinion on the topic. after that
