As an organization expands in size becoming more complex it must have an established CTPAT training security program. The more complex positions become over time the higher the need for specialized training. Effective training is critical to the successful implementation of security standards including CTPAT.
Security must be addressed from the “top down” yielding support from executive management. Without executive leadership to support policy changes it will be difficult for larger organizations to implement changes.
All training must be aligned with an organization’s goals to contribute to their success. The training should also contribute to the knowledge and development of individual employees.
Each organization has minimum security criteria guidelines and therefore the training should be tailored towards the type of industry. For example, an air carrier and a foreign manufacturer will have different requirements. To see a full list of requirements for all industries see the CBP CTPAT guidelines here.
